Celebrating Cows
Hello Friends ~
I have sat back for the last few days taking in all the social media posts swirling around my feed. Posts that include frustrated moms wanting information on what they should do about their Childs school project asking them to share information on why eliminating beef helps the environment , popular upscale food magazines saying they will no longer be including beef in any of their recipes to help the sustainability of our earth, popular news stations sharing we need to cut back our burgers because the president is working on his goal of a better planet battling climate change and this will help. I not only see these posts I see agriculture advocates on the front lines sharing good , solid information filled with facts and science. I felt it was time I chimed in myself and did my part.
Honestly friends as a ranchers daughter my heart is heavy reading all of these " plans" schools, fancy magazine publications and our president have for myself and fellow ranching families. It is the heartbeat of who we are. It scares me , it upsets me and I wonder how our world has come to a place where animal agriculture is the enemy. This very industry that has been around for hundreds upon hundreds of years, actually since the start of time. Remember Noah and his Ark bringing 2 of everything.... I am sure 2 cows were on there.
I am not here to share facts or science, there has been plenty of that shared stating how beef is environmentally friendly, how beef is a sustainable and regenerative protein and how it is not a major contributor to green house gases. What I am here to share is my love for what I do, ranching on our ranch that has been producing beef cattle for over 106 years on the same land year after year. Raising a quality product who year after year gets better and better using less and less. It that is not sustainable I am not sure what is.
My family ranch is the cornerstone of who I am , you will know that when you meet me. I will share photos, have a story and you will find in my voice the passion that I have for this industry shared by so many families across America who feel the same way I do . We work like everyone else each and every day, maybe not going to an office but opening up the back door and heading out to take on the day ahead.
We are the same as those who want a sustainable future, we are all in this together. We are here to leave our world a better place. Eiiminating beef consumption and trying to ruin an industry is not the answer. You might ask, then Celeste what is the answer and I honestly am not sure. What I do know is that you need to do your own research by talking to ranchers and folks who depend on the land for their livelihood. Do not be so quick to throw my industry away because a fancy magazine told you to or your Childs school encourages it or it is on your presidents agenda. I encourage you to look around at our world and all that is out there that is harming our environment ...... look hard there is a lot more than cows.
God Bless all of us as we move ahead in this crazy world we have found ourselves in. My ask to all of you is to sit back, think, do your homework, ask the hard questions, visit with people who are knowledgeable and don't be a sheep and just follow along because it sounds sexy or is the cool thing to do right now.
There are thousands of ranching families across America who are committed to doing what is right and committed to making this a better world, we live in it too and only want what is best.
If you think for one minute that ranchers will lay down on this topic you are wrong and Mr President Joe Biden if you think you are taking down an industry that has been here since the beginning of time and is the pulse of so many families who have such a true, pure love for what we do you are mistaken.
I will continue to push ahead, to tell the stories and celebrate my ranch and my ranching families across America, to share the good facts and science. Some days I tire at the constant "stuff" being spewed across my computer screen, tv screen, news headlines and magazine stories but I won't give up standing up for an industry that made me the young lady I am ......committed to the land and her cows and sharing the stories that bring a face to the beef business.
